Every now and then you drive by something and go “Fuck yeah! I really gotta shoot that” only to be disappointed by no access, a barking dog, no time, whatever. It’s annoying. It sticks in your craw, for weeks, sometimes years cause you know you won’t be back this way anytime soon. But then there are times when you roll up, encounter an open fence, a nice road, and in this case a crazy looking artist dude named RJ who seemed to be camped out living onsite and doing godknowswhat and art and shit in his underwear who even opens the gate for you and says “welcome!” I love that guy! This is an abandoned glass factory south of Lone Pine that some artists seem to have taken over and it is a great space and I had a ball shooting here for a few hours.

In the busy world of designing and creating things this will be my place to rest and show you what I have been up to. Photography has held a central role in my life for all of my adult life and most of it deals with some strange ideals that I have about life and beauty. I will not solve the world's problems with my images, I will not cure any disease, I will not assuage the pain of living in a modern world. But what I will do is show you how I see things and hopefully you might get some semblance of pleasure from that. Most of my images lately have been made using one of the oldest photography processes, wet plate collodion. And this blog is about my adventures in learning.
And in case you are wondering the magic happens in San Francisco. And sometimes on the road with the mobile darkroom and camera.
